I have always felt safe growing up in Hong Kong, but I felt otherwise recently. I found there is no escape from danger and fear during the concept development process. The design concept would be creating a garment that detachs the wearer at critical moments. The hypnotizing idea of Queen Elizabeth creating an immortal image by isolated herself as the Virgin Queen and was worshiped by her people fascines me, therefore I choose the period to be my historical reference. The Elizabethan image was about creating visual space in order to reflect the spiritual distance. I choose to create a collar in my design to empower the wearer, to feel elevated and untouchable. LED lights are used to create a glowing halo, to emphasis an isolated and alienated state of mind. Jersey and lace are used to show femininity and frigidity in paradox to the impossibility of protection. The constructional design imitates armor that contrast with the fabric choice. The color choice of white implies purity and holiness.
